The Walsall Burial Park is situated between Burntwood and Chasetown near Lichfield. The Park required a building which would create and facilitate a reception and welfare facility. Architects, Bailey Design Ltd in Tamworth provided a design solution and Synergy Building Design Limited developed a structural solution.
Synergy Building Design Limited devised a steel framed structure solution. The resulting construction contained extensive glazing to the front and side elevations.
The foundations were designed to include a pit which offers flexibility for future adaption. The floors were designed to be demountable, which facilitates the prospect of potential development in the future. Following the successful completion of the customers bespoke requirements, the building now provides a reception and welfare facility for the park.
As well as the reception and welfare facility, a secure compound to the rear of the building has been cut into the landscape. This compound has been designed and fitted with a green roof to ensure the building blends into its surrounding green-belt landscape. Retaining walls have also been installed to support the raised earth where required. Finally, a store was erected to house the equipment required to maintain the park.
Following the client’s approval of the architect’s design proposal, Synergy Building Design Limited designed the steel frame using CSC’s Fastrack software. This specialist software allowed fast and accurate designs of the steel structures.
The project was completed in October 2013 and Synergy Building Design Limited have been retained by the client for their next project which is under design consideration currently.
